Our take
The Fiordland Jewel takes 22 guests at most, the smallest overnight boat on our list, for about 17.5 hours on the fiord. A three course dinner, breakfast, tea and coffee, kayaking, a tender boat trip and the top deck hot tub after dinner are included. Alcohol is sold on board, and parking is an extra charge per booking. Meet at the Fiordland Discovery desk in the terminal; the listing gives a 2:30pm to 3pm boarding window for the 2026 to 2027 season. It has about 135 reviews averaging close to 5.
Our Milford Sound cruise comparison makes it the pick for anyone who has already done a day cruise: about a third of the Mariner's guests, and the fiord after the day boats have gone. It's non-refundable and can't be changed, so book once your dates are fixed. Unlike the Mariner, it's priced per person. It isn't wheelchair accessible.

Taking only 22 passengers a night, the Fiordland Jewel features nine climate-controlled cabins each with their own ensuite and sea views. Includes: overnight accommodation cabin for 2 people per cabin only (option in king twin or super king double cabin), two cruises of Milford Sound, a three-course evening meal, cooked and continental breakfast prepared by the on board chef, kayaking, tender boat explorations, use of top-deck hot tub (weather permitting).
The friendly expert crew will share with you the incredible natural wilderness and local wildlife of this area. View the fascinating sea life beneath the surface when shown underwater film footage captured by the Fiordland Jewels' onboard Remote Operating Vehicle (ROV) following dinner.
Bookings are open from 31 October 2026 to 25 April 2027
Van connections (maximum 8 people) are available from Te Anau or Queenstown (charges apply) with exclusive charters available upon request.

The tour, stop by stop
- Meet our crew at the Fiordland Discovery desk at the Milford Sound Terminal. Check-in is at 2.35pm, boarding the boat at 2.50pm, departure at 3.10pm for your overnight cruise. You will return to this terminal the next morning at approx. 8.45am. About 30 min.
